Are you ready to show off your summer legs but weary of the bulging veins lurking underneath your jeans? Over half of adult women in the US are stricken by spider and varicose veins on their calves and thighs. Although these veins are rarely a medical concern, they can cause you to feel self-conscious about the appearance of your legs. Don’t let embarrassing leg veins cramp your summer style! If leg veins are stopping you from busting out your Bermudas or showing off those short-shorts this summer, NYC dermatologist Dr. Jody Levine has the answer for you!
Sclerotherapy in NYC is a minimally invasive procedure for vein removal. This technique injects a solution into the vein which irritates the lining and causes the vein to collapse. Eventually, the unwanted vein turns into scar tissue and fades from view. Depending on the severity of your leg veins, multiple vein treatments may be needed. Although most people are candidates for vein removal, women who are pregnant or nursing are not eligible for sclerotherapy in NY. Patients experiencing certain medical conditions, like deep vein thrombosis, should also seek an alternative vein treatment. Dr. Levine can discuss the best options available to treat your individual case of spider and varicose veins.
Sclerotherapy is an out-patient procedure lasting 15 to 30 minutes . After Sclerotherapy, you will be advised to wear tight fitting support hose, walk frequently, and avoid strenuous activity. Although fully treated veins will not reappear, sclerotherapy will not prevent future veins from emerging. Dr. Levine works with each patient to track the appearance of veins and their treatment progress. Check out some results from sclerotherapy:

Although still rare, pediatric melanoma is on the rise. Unlike adult melanoma, pediatric melanoma often appears as a blemish similar to a wart, pink or without pigment in areas that have not been exposed to the sun. Since pediatric melanoma is so rare and different than adult melanoma, it’s often diagnosed in late stages. Fortunately, with advances in treatment and a child’s strong immune system, advanced melanoma can be treated successfully. What is behind the increase? Find out in the full article by the Houston Chronicle.

The weather is getting warmer, and beach season is approaching fast! As the days become longer and hotter, you’ll look forward to beach vacations and poolside gatherings, but are you ready to show off in swim trunks? Men can face many trouble spots when trying to tone up their chest and abdomen. So how can you tone up this season so you’re ready to strip down?
The best tip our NYC plastic surgeon can give men trying to target and tone fat is, “take it slow, get in shape the safe way.” Fad diets, diet pills, and dieting supplements do not result in a healthier, shapelier body, and often the results are only temporary. By incorporating exercise into your lifestyle, you’re committing to a healthier way of living. Cardio exercises that burn calories are most effective when trying to lose belly fat. These exercises include running, walking, biking, jogging, and jump roping. To maximize your workout, try interval training -- going between low intensity and high intensity exercises. Once establishing this cardio workout, core exercises will help tone and strengthen your abs. Incorporating weight training activities can help build muscle. No matter how much exercise you may enjoy, you may still have fat that’s resistant to diet and exercise. If so, Plastic Surgery and Dermatology of NYC has a solution.
Areas of Fat Around the Stomach
Even after strict dieting and exercise, some areas of fat just cannot be burned! If you’re experiencing fat that’s unresponsive to diet and exercise, liposuction may be the best choice for you. Liposuction in NYC can remove tummy bulges, saddle bags, and love handles that exercise has failed to conquer. By using laser liposuction in NY, you can experience fat removal without incisions and minimal downtime and enjoy the added benefit of skin tightening. Unlike traditional liposuction, laser lipo stimulates the production of collagen, causing your skin to tighten and firm. Results will be noticeable shortly after the procedure but will continue to improve for several months after laser liposuction. Candidates for liposuction must be in decent shape, with good skin tone and elasticity.
Areas of Fat Around the Chest
If you’re experiencing fat around the breasts that hasn’t responded to exercise and dieting, you may be suffering from “gynecomastia”. This disease often a result from a genetic predisposition, hormonal imbalances, alcohol or drug abuse, or the side effects of medication. Dr. Elie Levine uses liposuction in New York to remove fat with a minimal incision, but sometimes, tissue excision may be required. Sometimes male chest reduction in New York is combined with other procedures, including liposuction, to help sculpt the abdomen, flanks, and other areas.
Dr. Elie Levine and his staff will be happy to meet with you to discuss your individual needs or treatment plan and answer any questions you may have about men’s fat removal or gynecomastia in NYC. Please call our New York office at 212-988-1800, or request an appointment online for a personal consultation.
