Though acne is commonly associated with adolescence and puberty, many adults also suffer from acne well into their 30s and beyond. Multiple factors can contribute to breakouts, including genetics, stress, certain skin care products, and hormone levels. In light of these factors, dedicating the time to properly take care of your skin plays a key factor in keeping a clear complexion. If you’re suffering from stubborn acne inflammation or acne scars, New York dermatologist Dr. Jody Levine of Plastic Surgery and Dermatology of NYC offers various skin treatments to reduce the effects of acne.
Reduce Acne Scarring And Inflammation With Laser Acne Treatments!
Laser acne treatment can reduce troublesome scars and inflammation caused by acne. For some patients, acne can be resistant to traditional oral or topical medications. Laser acne treatment can improve inflammation by reducing the size of oil glands that contribute to blocked pores. Our NYC dermatologist can treat even the most persistent acne with photodynamic therapy and LED treatments.
For some, years of struggling with acne can lead to acne scarring, as popping pimples and frequent picking result in scars that detract from your complexion. Lasers can treat acne scars by focusing on the surface of the skin, as well as underlying layers. Laser skin resurfacing techniques target the initial layers of acne-damaged skin, regenerating fresh skin cells for a healthy and smoother-looking complexion. Additionally, laser heat energy promotes collagen growth that leads to skin tightening benefits.
Clear Your Complexion With A Chemical Peel!
Chemical peels are an effective way to improve the appearance of your skin while reducing acne and acne scarring. Chemical peels are designed to remove dead skin cells from the surface of skin to clear clogged pores that can contribute to breakouts. Chemical peels can also treat fine lines, blemishes, dry patches, and uneven pigmentation. Undergoing a series of chemical peels can help stimulate collagen production in the deep dermis that contributes to firmer, healthier-looking skin.
Prevent Future Breakouts By Developing A Proper Skin Care Routine!
Developing an efficient skin care routine is essential to maintaining the glowing results from laser acne treatment and chemical peels! Choosing the proper skin care products that are ideal for your specific skin type can help prevent future breakouts and contribute to the long-lasting results of your laser acne treatment or chemical peel. We offer an assortment of skin care treatments to keep your complexion looking fresh. Our skin care experts would be happy to discuss which skin care products are ideal for you.

Treat yourself to a slimmer figure this upcoming holiday season with our innovative liposuction solutions! Unlike body sculpting procedures, there are numerous minimally invasive options available to achieve long-lasting results with little downtime and recovery. Patients can undergo laser-based liposuction options, including SmartLipo™ and SculpSure™, as well as ultrasound lipo techniques, such as VASER® LipoSelection, to slim down areas of stubborn body fat. The midsection, back, arms, legs, and thighs are just some of the areas that minimally invasive liposuction can treat. Learn more about your options below and see which lipo procedure may be right for you.
SmartLipo™ utilizes laser liposuction technology to remove unwanted fat pockets and promote firmer-looking skin. During your SmartLipo™ treatment, a tiny laser probe is inserted beneath the skin through a tiny incision. Once placed, the SmartLipo™ system delivers laser energy to underlying fat cells, resulting in their removal from the body. Laser heat energy also encourages new collagen production in the deep dermis, resulting in skin tightening benefits post-procedure. Since SmartLipo™ is minimally invasive, patients can expect less healing time post-procedure than traditional liposuction techniques.
VASER® LipoSelection can target stubborn fat using ultrasound technology. The VASER® probe is carefully placed underneath the skin and begins targeting excess fat cells without causing harm to surrounding tissues. Over time, these fat cells are then eliminated from the body. VASER® Lipo also promotes the firming of skin around the target area, as new collagen is gradually produced after treatment. Patients undergoing VASER® LipoSelection can expect minimal downtime following their procedure.
SculpSure™ is a completely non-invasive lipo procedure that can remove excess fat pockets with little-to-no recovery time. During treatment, specialized applicators are placed about the target area(s) and laser energy is delivered to unwanted fat cells, resulting in their detachment from surrounding tissue. These fat cells are then removed from the body over time. SculpSure™ patients can return to their daily routine immediately after the conclusion of their treatment.
NYC plastic surgeon, Dr. Elie Levine, NYC dermatologist, Dr. Jody Levine, and the staff at Plastic Surgery and Dermatology of NYC welcome any questions you may have about SmartLipo™, VASER® LipoSelection, and SculpSure™, as well as our other liposuction procedures. The holiday season is quickly approaching, but there are still plenty of ways to look and feel your best in time for the upcoming festivities! At Plastic Surgery and Dermatology of NYC, we offer a variety of non-invasive treatments for patients who want to achieve natural-looking results without significant downtime or recovery. Those who would like to slim down the body can opt for SculpSure™–a completely non-surgical procedure that removes stubborn fat cells. Moreover, patients struggling with underarm sweat and deodorant stains can undergo miraDry® treatment to eliminate sweat glands under the arms. New York dermatologist, Dr. Jody Levine, performs these cutting-edge procedures in the comfort of our in-office treatment rooms.
Slim Down For The Holidays!
SculpSure™ uses laser fat removal technology to eliminate unwanted fat cells from the body. The SculpSure™ machine is equipped with 4 specialized applicators that are placed above the target area(s). Laser energy is delivered to disrupt excess fat cells, leading to their detachment from surrounding tissue. Once detached, these cells are then processed and naturally removed from your body over time!
SculpSure™ requires no downtime following your procedure, allowing patients to return to their daily routines immediately. Results are long-lasting and can be seen in subsequent weeks. To complement their body sculpting results, patients are encouraged to maintain a healthy lifestyle—complete with a steady diet and exercise plan.
Eliminate Excessive Underarm Sweat!
MiraDry® is designed to address excess underarm sweating, as well as unsightly deodorant stains. This non-surgical treatment targets sweat glands underneath the arms and gently positions them closer to the surface. MiraWave™ energy is then delivered, eliminating odor-causing glands and sweat-causing glands. In addition to reducing excessive sweating, miraDry® also eliminates the need for deodorant or antiperspirant!
MiraDry® is completely non-invasive, meaning patients do not need to contend with lengthy healing or recovery times. You can expect to see results within weeks of your miraDry® treatment.
NYC dermatologist, Dr. Jody Levine, NYC plastic surgeon, Dr. Elie Levine, and the staff at Plastic Surgery and Dermatology of NYC welcome any questions you may have about SculpSure™ and miraDry®, as well as our other non-surgical procedures. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we would like to acknowledge the millions of women bravely fighting this disease. For many breast cancer patients, treatment can bring about substantial physical changes—especially for those who have underwent a mastectomy or double mastectomy. Breast reconstruction is an important part of the recovery process for many breast cancer patients and can help restore a sense of self after undergoing a mastectomy. Thanks to technological advancements, there are now numerous surgical options available to help reconstruct the breasts post-mastectomy, including breast implants, fat grafting, and tissue flap surgery. When choosing which form of breast reconstruction is right for you, your plastic surgeon can work closely with you to determine the best treatment option. In many cases, a combination procedure may be recommended to achieve an optimal result. Symmetry procedures on the other side may be of benefit in patients with one-sided breast cancer. Options include lift, augmentation, reduction, or fat transfer to achieve better symmetry. Learn more about these breast reconstruction techniques below.
Breast augmentation is designed to add natural-looking size and shape to the breasts. When undergoing breast reconstruction, patients can opt for breast implants, natural breast augmentation using fat grafting, or tissue flap surgery, depending on their treatment goals.
Breast implants are specially made to complement your body type. Implants are available in different sizes, as well as shapes (round and teardrop) to fit the body size of each patient.
Fat grafting, also known as fat transfer, can complement breast implants by volumizing the surrounding areas using your body’s natural fat cells. These fat cells are first taken from a donor location (usually the thighs, flanks, or abdomen) using liposuction. After being collected, your natural fat is then injected into the breasts to add shape and smooth asymmetries.
During tissue flap surgery, skin, muscle, and fat are taken from the back or abdomen and used to reconstruct the breasts. Since this method uses your body’s own skin and muscle, tissue flap surgery can achieve realistic-looking results.
Breast Lift Surgery
Breast lift surgery can yield substantial results and is often combined with the above breast augmentation or fat grafting techniques for those who have underwent a mastectomy or double mastectomy. During a breast lift, the breasts are raised to a more youthful position and breast tissue is carefully redraped or removed, if necessary, to achieve natural-looking contours.

Though the summer has concluded, some may still be seeing the effects of sun damage after spending the past few months outdoors. Sun damage often presents itself as redness, blemishes, or uneven pigmentation on your skin. Over time, sun exposure can also lead to the formation of unsightly wrinkles and fine lines. The face, arms, chest, hands, and legs are among the most common areas affected by the sun’s rays. New York dermatologist Dr. Jody Levine of Plastic Surgery and Dermatology of NYC specializes in treating sun damaged skin to restore a natural-looking complexion! Below are some of the different laser and light-based modalities available at our New York City office.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser skin resurfacing is an innovative skin care procedure that uses PicoSure® laser technology to resurface your skin and encourage the growth of new skin cells. PicoSure® technology can deliver bursts of energy to the skin’s surface with the upmost precision and efficiency, while ensuring the surrounding skin cells are left unharmed. Heat from the PicoSure® laser also stimulates the production of new collagen in the underlying skin layers to promote youthful-looking skin.
Photodynamic therapy uses light-based techniques to improve skin tone and texture, while also addressing the medical effects of sun damage, such as actinic keratosis. During this non-invasive procedure, a photosensitizing topical medication is applied to the target area and is absorbed by the damaged skin cells. Next, the area is exposed to a specialized light source, which activates the topical medication and eliminates sun damaged skin cells. Photodynamic therapy can achieve substantial results with only 1 treatment. Follow up appointments are required, if necessary, to maintain your complexion.
BBL (BroadBand Light) photorejuvenation is a light-based procedure that can break up excess or uneven skin pigmentation. Pulses of light are delivered to the target area(s), restoring a smooth, glowing skin tone. Heat from the BBL device can encourage new collagen production for months following your BBL photorejuvenation treatment.
NYC dermatologist, Dr. Jody Levine, NYC plastic surgeon, Dr. Elie Levine, and the staff at Plastic Surgery and Dermatology of NYC welcome any questions you may have about laser skin resurfacing, photodynamic therapy, and BBL photorejuvenation, as well as our other sun damage treatments.
