Breast cancer is the most common cancer found in women, and approximately one in eight women will be affected over the course of their lives. Additionally, thousands of men develop breast cancer each year. Breast Cancer Awareness Month not only reminds us of those who have been diagnosed and have fought breast cancer so bravely, but it also raises awareness about options following surgery that many women may not realize are available. The decision to undergo breast reconstruction after breast cancer is an important decision in the recovery process for many survivors. There are numerous questions that need to be considered when undergoing a breast reconstruction procedure post-mastectomy to determine the best option for you.
What Are My Options?
Patients can choose from three types of breast implants: silicone gel implants, saline implants, and gummy implants. All three of these options come in different implant shapes for natural-looking results, including round and teardrop-shaped implants. A tissue expander is used to slowly stretch the skin and muscle in order to create a pocket in which to place your breast implant.
Tissue Flap Surgery
Tissue flap surgery utilizes skin, muscle, and fat from your body to produce a more natural-looking appearance. Tissue flaps can be taken from a variety of areas, including the back and abdomen. While the tissue flap method can produce more realistic-looking results, it is important to know that these procedures are more invasive—requiring more downtime after surgery.
Autologous fat transfer, also known as fat grafting, is another breast reconstruction procedure that harvests fat cells from other parts of your body to recreate a breast. This fat is carefully collected to ensure survival during the transfer. Once processed, these cells are injected into the breast area.
What Results Can I Expect?
All three of these procedures can produce natural-looking results and help restore the appearance of breasts. Depending on the procedure, it may take weeks, or even months, for your final results to take shape. Once they are achieved, however, they are long-lasting.
Breast plastic surgeon Dr. Elie Levine will sit down and discuss each breast reconstruction option with you in order to create a treatment plan to achieve natural-looking results that fit your goals and desires.

Spring has officially arrived! It’s time to put away multiple layers of clothes and transform into a new you! If you’re not satisfied with your current curves, consider our breast augmentation procedure to achieve the results you desire. Thanks to technological innovations, breast implant procedures have never been more precise! Here at Plastic Surgery and Dermatology of NYC, we can help you visualize your results before undergoing surgery. Thanks to our state of the art Vectra 3D Imaging technology, you can visualize your desired results.
Mapping Your Physique
Our aesthetic simulation technology starts by mapping your current shape in order to produce high-quality 3D images of your body. These photos are conducted in the privacy of our office and are the foundation for your upcoming breast implant procedure because they provide the “before” model that our New York plastic surgeon, Dr. Elie Levine, builds upon to create your 3D simulation.
Sculpting Your Desired Results
Next, Dr. Levine will use Simulation Sculptor Software to modify the 3D rendering of your “before” physique. Our surgeon will change the 3D images to reflect the expected results of your breast augmentation. You can see how implants will enhance your appearance to reflect the type of breasts you desire. Breasts can be enlarged, shaped, or even lifted until you are satisfied with the changes. You are in control of your results! In addition, our surgeon can better understand the exact results you’re looking for by seeing your changes mapped out on screen.
Developing a Plan of Action
After creating the perfect “after” image, our NY plastic surgeon can develop a personalized surgical plan to bring the results laid out on our Vectra 3D mappings to life. While results may not be completely identical to the 3D rendering, our Vectra 3D and breast augmentation technology work together to achieve the most accurate results possible—making your dream body become reality!
Our NY Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Elie Levine, NYC dermatologist, Dr. Jody Levine, and staff at Plastic Surgery and Dermatology of NYC welcome any questions you may have about our breast augmentation procedures, as well as our Vectra 3D Imaging technology. We’re already halfway through winter, which means the time to hit the beach is getting closer! However, if you aren’t happy with the shape of your body following all those winter holiday feasts and are considering body sculpting to prepare for summer, then plan ahead! By undergoing your procedure now, you can give yourself enough healing time during the spring months for recovery and by summer, the optimal results will be reflected in a new you!
Bikini Top Curves
If you’re looking for bikini top curves, then consider a breast augmentation! Whether you’re looking to increase breast size, shape or symmetry, we can help you attain an improved and natural look. Our Vectra 3D Imagining system allows you to visualize the results you’ve always wanted and helps identify your exact needs! Whether you want to enhance your figure or recapture your former shape, talk with Dr. Elie to see how breast augmentation procedures can help you.
No more hiding behind wraps and tankinis! It’s finally time to rid yourself of that stubborn layer of skin and belly that seems so impossible to remove. There are a few potential causes of this extra layer of belly fat. After significant weight loss, excess skin may continue to hang loose. In addition, abdominal muscles can weaken over time by factors such as pregnancy and obesity. However, a tummy tuck can correct these problems by removing excess skin and fat while also tightening abdominal muscles across the upper and lower abdomen, resulting in a flat, bikini-worthy belly.
Bringing Back the Backside
You can add volume to your derriere with a buttock augmentation! We combine fat grafting—the use of your own fat from your belly or thigh to add volume to the desired area—with targeted liposuction to emphasize and enhance curves. Whether you want to improve the shape or positioning of your buttocks, a butt lift can solve your issues in time for summer.
Smooth Summer Legs
Scared to show off your summer legs because of cellulite? Consider Cellulaze treatment! Cellulaze uses laser technology to dissolve fibrous connective tissues that create pockets of fat while also tightening skin and increasing thickness. Cellulaze can reduce cellulite by creating smoother skin and encouraging collagen production.
Our NYC dermatologist, Dr. Jody Levine, NY Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Elie Levine, and staff at Plastic Surgery and Dermatology of NYC welcome any questions you may have about our breast augmentation, tummy tuck, buttocks enhancement or Cellulaze procedures. Most of us have been affected in some way by breast cancer, either knowing someone afflicted, being a caregiver, or experiencing the illness ourselves. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a month dedicated to remembering those who courageously fought breast cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women. One out of eight women will develop some form of the disease in their lifetime, experiencing both physical and emotional distress. But what happens after breast cancer treatment? Many women are left with asymmetric breasts, or will lose one or both breasts while fighting for their lives. Often times, women will actually request to have the cancer-free breast removed in the hopes of avoiding future cancer scares. Today, with more medical insurance companies covering the procedure and advancements in surgical techniques, breast reconstruction after cancer is becoming a common step in the recovery, helping to improve quality of life and regain a sense of self and survivor confidence. So what does a breast cancer survivor need to know about breast reconstruction?
Breast reconstruction allows you to balance the appearance of your chest after a mastectomy, giving your breasts a more shapely appearance without the use of clothing alone. Plastic surgeons performing breast reconstruction usually offer two techniques, a flap procedure using natural tissue extracted from another area of the body or breast implants. The flap procedure gives breasts a natural appearance and is a great option for many patients. However, the flap technique is a more extensive procedure with a prolonged recovery time and is not for everyone. Whichever procedure you choose, Dr. Elie Levine will work with you to help restore the appearance of your breast, improving the appearance and your quality of life post-mastectomy.
It’s important to know that breast reconstruction will not reduce the risk of breast cancer reoccurrence, but neither will breast implant nor flap procedures increase your risk of cancer regrowth. These procedures will not interfere if future treatments are needed. Our NYC plastic surgeon, Dr. Elie Levine and Dermatologist, Dr. Jody Levine, welcome any questions you may have regarding breast reconstruction surgery. Plastic Surgery & Dermatology of NYC will help guide you through the steps during this procedure. Please call our New York office at 212-988-1800, or request an appointment online for a personal consultation.

Are you considering breast enhancement, but are unsure which procedure to choose? NYC plastic surgeon, Dr. Elie Levine, offers both breast implants and fat transfer breast enhancement. Deciding which enhancement is right for you depends on your expectations for volume and longevity.
Breast implants offer patients long-lasting results for both saline and silicone implants. Able to provide a dramatic increase in size, breast implants can create noticeably beautiful curves.
Dramatic Increase In Size
Fat transfer, unlike breast implants, uses fat transfer to enhance the breasts. Fat injected into the breasts is harvested from the abdomen, hips, or thighs. Fat transfer has the ability to moderately increase the size of breasts, but is used more frequently to reshape breasts.
Natural Look & Feel
Moderately Increases Size
