Sensuous - full - luscious lips are the hallmark of outstanding beauty and are important to the harmonious balance of other facial features.
Lip augmentation is a wonderful procedure for both the young patient looking for a more “sensual,” luscious lip – as well as for the mature patient who now has atrophy and a thinning lip. Lip enhancement can be achieved non-surgically by using injectable fillers such as collagen or hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm. Drs. Levine recommend collagen, for the first time lip enhancement patient, as this will give a more subtle result. If this look is well received, Drs. Levine then recommend hyaluronic acid fillers for a fuller, longer lasting result. Lip enhancement can also be achieved by harvesting excess fat from your own body and transplanting it (Fat Grafting). The combination of both procedures will enhance longevity and offers the perfect solution to optimize your results.
Adding definition to the border of the lip can decrease those unwanted radial lip lines experienced by the more mature patient. These are those fine lines or wrinkles radiating out from the mouth. It can also add a more distinct border to the edge of the lip preventing the “bleeding” of lipstick as seen on a thinning lip.

Lip Enhancement Overview
Fat grafting offers wonderful, long-term results to create fuller, more youthful looking lips. Temporary fillers such as collagen or hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane and Juvederm offer outstanding results as well. When one of these is used for treatment they are injected carefully in precise, measured doses into targeted areas around the mouth. When Fat Grafting is being done Drs. Levine will harvest fat from your own body (usually the abdomen) and then transplant it into your lips through very tiny, inconspicuous incisions. The donor site will also be very small with inconspicuous incisions and closed with sutures. During your procedure a local anesthetic will be used to keep you comfortable. The combination of dermal fat transfer and an injectable filler enhances the longevity of the procedure – and is the perfect solution to optimize your results!
What to Expect After Your Lip Enhancement Procedure
You can expect to experience some swelling and bruising - this is normal. This diminishes over a few days time and can be covered using camouflage makeup. Your procedure will last an hour or longer – depending on what’s being done. Most of our clients are able to return to work immediately if they choose to. Drs. Levine will advise you what’s best for you at that time. You will need to keep your lips moist using the prescribed ointment – and follow the modified diet.
