LIPOSUCTION OVERVIEW
Liposuction is a technique which uses cannulas (hollow tubes), inserted through tiny incisions, to suction and remove excess fat and contour bulges. Dr. Levine performs this safely using various techniques including the “tumescent” technique or the “super wet” technique which infuse different amounts of solution into the areas being treated to minimize discomfort and bleeding. Dr. Levine also performs ultrasonic liposuction and and power assisted liposuction when needed. Liposuction usually takes from one to three hours depending upon the extensiveness of your personalized treatment.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR LIPOSUCTION SURGERY
Swelling and bruising are to be expected with liposuction surgery. Bruising usually resolves within one to two weeks and a significant amount of the swelling resolves over a similar time frame. You will wear a “compression” garment day and night for two weeks following your surgery and at night only for two to four additional weeks. Allow one week for recuperation. Many of our patients are able to return to work after only a few days off. You may begin light aerobic exercise in three weeks and more strenuous activity after six weeks.
