Your Personal Consultation
During your personal consultation with Dr. Levine you will discuss your concerns, realistic expectations and goals, have all your questions answered and create a treatment plan tailored to address your needs effectively. He will examine your neck to determine the extent of your surgery and if liposuction will be needed to remove excess fat. Photos will be taken and computer imaging will be used to help you plan and to show you the optimum outcome.
Necklift Plastic Surgery
After you are prepped and totally comfortable, Dr. Levine will make tiny incisions under your chin through which he will work to manipulate the platysma muscle and suture it in a new position. If liposuction is used for fat removal, he will use a cannula to suction the excess fat from the neck area and to sculpture the neck. The excess skin (cervicoplasty) will then be trimmed and the remaining skin will be lifted into place and sutured. Small incision behind the ears allow for this. After the incisions are closed, a compression bandage is wrapped around the head and neck and must be worn for 1 week. Your necklift surgery will take from 2-4 hours.
What To Expect After Your Necklift Surgery
You should experience only mild discomfort along with some swelling and bruising. This is normal and usually takes up to two weeks to resolve. You will return to see Dr. Levine for your post-surgical appointment the day after your surgery. If he used drains and tubes, they will be removed during this office visit. Most sutures are removed 5 days after surgery with those in the hairline behind the ear being removed in about 10 days. You should be able to return to work within 10-14 days and start light aerobic exercise within 2 weeks. You must avoid strenuous activity for 3 weeks and limit sun exposure for several months following your surgery.
