Nose Reshaping (Rhinoplasty)

Because the nose is one of the most defining facial features, Rhinoplasty is an important aesthetic procedure.  It may be too big, too wide, too long, too narrow, bulbous at the end, have a hump in the middle, the tip hangs down, it’s crooked or the middle looks like a “ski jump”.  The reason may be functional thus creating breathing problems.  The problem may have existed from birth or have been caused by trauma.  It doesn’t matter – Dr. Levine can correct a nose that fits and compliments the other features of your face, helping bring it into balance. The goal of Rhinoplasty is to reshape the nose so that it looks natural and blends harmoniously with your other facial features. If breathing is the issue, many of these problems can be addressed via nasal surgery.

Rhinoplasty – Nose Reshaping Overview
Dr. Levine performs both open and closed Rhinoplasty surgery. Whether he does “open” or “closed” surgery will be determined during your personal consultation and depends on your personal needs. Working through this incision, he will separate the skin from its supporting framework of bone and cartilage and then sculpt your nose by manipulating bone and cartilage. The skin is then redraped over its frame and sutured in place. Often a splint is placed on your nose to protect the surgery and stabilize your nose.  Soft packs may be used inside your nose as well. Your Rhinoplasty surgery will take from 1-3 hours depending on how extensive a procedure is needed.

What to Expect After Your Rhinoplasty Surgery
You can expect to have a puffy nose and possible bruising and swelling around the eyes. Most patients are able to return to work after 1-2 weeks.
