Build Muscle & Reduce Fat With EMSculpt® in NYC
EMSculpt® is a non-invasive body sculpting technique that can improve muscle definition and muscle mass while reducing the appearance of unwanted fat without the need for surgery. EMSculpt® is FDA-approved to target two of the most well-known “problem areas” of the body: the abdomen and buttocks. These areas are notoriously difficult to tone and patients often want to rid themselves of stubborn, diet-resistant fat around these parts of the body. Not only can EMSculpt® burn fat, but it can also help build muscle around the midsection and buttocks to promote a firmer, more defined appearance. Unlike traditional body contouring techniques, such as liposuction or tummy tuck surgery, EMSculpt® is completely non-invasive; there is no downtime or recovery necessary following your EMSculpt® treatment. How does EMSculpt® work?
EMSculpt® uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM®) fields to achieve results. The EMSculpt® device delivers electromagnetic pulses to your muscles to create muscle contractions that are similar to abdominal crunches or squats. These muscle contractions can build muscle, while also helping to burn fat; as your muscles contract, your body breaks down your fat reserves to supply energy, leading to a reduction of stubborn fat cells. One EMSculpt® treatment can deliver the equivalent of approximately 20,000 abdominal crunches or 20,000 squats.*

What areas can be treated with EMSculpt®?
EMSculpt® is FDA-approved to treat the abdomen and buttocks.
EMSculpt® can target the midsection and flanks to enhance stomach definition. Many patients are dissatisfied with the appearance of their abdomen due to love handles, bulging, or a lack of abdominal definition. EMSculpt® is designed to build muscle and burn fat in one procedure. Underlying abdominal muscles can be accentuated and unwanted fat can be removed with EMSculpt® body sculpting. A single EMSculpt® treatment is the equivalent of performing thousands of abdominal crunches. As a result of undergoing EMSculpt®, patients can enhance the shape of their abs and obliques.*
EMSculpt® Treatment for the Abdomen
EMSculpt® can tone and build the buttocks by creating muscle contractions that burn fat and stimulate underlying muscles. The gluteal muscles are notoriously difficult to sculpt and many patients have trouble improving buttocks volume and shape through exercise and diet alone. EMSculpt® can achieve effects that are akin to performing thousands of squats in one 30 minute session. The result is a shapelier, more supple buttocks.*
EMSculpt® Treatment for the Buttocks
Who is a good candidate for EMSculpt®?
EMSculpt® patients should be relatively close to their ideal body weight. EMSculpt® is not a weight loss procedure; rather, it is designed to improve body contours and remove thin layers of fat to accentuate your physique. Both men and women can undergo EMSculpt® treatment to enhance the buttocks or abdomen. If you have love handles or bulging around the midsection, then you may be a candidate. Patients looking to improve abdominal definition or buttocks shape may also be candidates. Dr. Levine will meet with you during your in-office consultation for EMSculpt® at our NYC offices to help determine if this non-surgical body sculpting procedure is right for you.
Can EMSculpt® be combined with other procedures?
EMSculpt® can complement liposuction techniques like SmartLipo®, Vaser® LipoSelection, and SculpSure™, as well as skin tightening procedures like BodyTite™. By combining liposuction to remove fat, skin tightening to firm skin, and EMSculpt® to build muscle, patients can achieve substantial improvements to their overall physique.*
How many EMSculpt® treatments will I need?
Your EMSculpt® treatment will be separated into 4 sessions scheduled a few days apart from each other. After your 4 EMSculpt® sessions, additional maintenance treatments are recommended to sustain your EMSculpt® results.
Is anesthesia required?
EMSculpt® is completely non-surgical and does not require any anesthesia.
How can I prepare for EMSculpt®?
Dr. Levine will discuss your goals and expectations, as well as the best way to prepare for your EMSculpt® treatment during your initial consultation. Since EMSculpt® is non-invasive, this procedure does not require extensive pre-procedure preparation like traditional body contouring surgery.
What should I expect during my EMSculpt® procedure?
EMSculpt® can be performed on an outpatient basis at our NYC offices. During treatment, the EMSculpt® device is placed on the skin and held in place by an elastic band. The EMSculpt® paddle delivers electromagnetic contractions to your underlying muscles. An EMSculpt® session lasts approximately 30 minutes.
What should I expect after my EMSculpt® procedure?
Slight soreness or discomfort in the muscles is common following treatment; this discomfort is akin to the feeling of an intense workout. There is no healing time necessary and patients are free to resume their daily activities immediately following EMSculpt® treatment.*
What kind of results can I expect from EMSculpt®?
EMSculpt® can improve the prominence of your abdominal muscles and enhance buttocks shape. You can usually start to see results within 1 month of completing your EMSculpt® treatment. EMSculpt® results last approximately 4-6 months. Maintenance treatments are recommended to sustain your results. EMSculpt® patients are encouraged to follow a consistent diet and exercise plan to help maintain results.*
